Sip and Clay
Sip and Clay at GPP
Sip and Clay is a fun, new adults-only addition to Garret Pendergrass Pottery. On selected Friday and Saturday nights only, bring a friend, co-worker or loved one to celebrate TGIF on the pottery wheel. Relax and sip your favorite beverage (BYOB) together on a unique night out making bowls on the pottery wheel.
A Perfect Pottery Evening
On selected Friday and Saturday nights only, Sip and Clay will start off with a studio tour walking you through the entire clay process from throwing to glazing and firing. One of our instructors will then demonstrate how to make a bowl on the pottery wheel. This visual demonstration will inspire you to create and prime you for your pottery lesson. During the next hour and a half, we will guide you through a memorable experience making two bowls each.
Sip and Clay is scheduled from 6:30pm-8:30pm on selected Fridays and Saturdays only. Please arrive 15 min early to find parking and to open your beverages. Cups are provided.
Glazing Your Bowls
After your Sip and Clay lesson, you can decide the next step in glazing your hand-made pottery! Included in your class, we will glaze the bowls a gloss-white glaze that will fit in with almost any interior style.
If you prefer a more personal or eclectic style, you can add on an additional glaze lesson! This private, one hour follow-up glaze lesson for two will teach you how to glaze your own pottery with over 20 colors to choose from! You can select a color for a matching bowl set or pick a different color for each bowl.
Please allow a minimum of three weeks between Sip and Clay and the class add on: Follow up glaze lesson for two.
($108 additional fee/Follow up glaze lesson for two)
Sip and Clay Timeline
Ceramics is a detailed process. Besides making the bowls, we have to dry the work out to trim, allow time for the trimmed bowls to dry completely and then, bisque fire your bowls. After a few days when the kiln is cool, we will sand and rinse down your bowls to prep them for a round of glazing. Once glazed and dried, we will load a glaze firing kiln and fire the work to over 2100F. Once it reaches peak temperature, it will take another few days to cool off enough to unload and organize. This process can take up to 6 weeks with our firing schedules. After 6 weeks, please reach out to collect your masterpieces!
